M'liz Keefe, untitled white

This abstract work has a heavily painted surface in whites and black and grey. There is a hint of yellow at the bottom left and center. At the upper middle a black 3” oval drops from the edge. Below the oval at 8” is another, very small indented black circle piercing into the canvas. Fascinated with decay and space Keefe works with oils, ashes from wood stoves, powdered pigments, and other materials. These materials are built up in a long process of application, which eventually leads to a thick hard heavily textured surface.
